Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan

This plan covers Litchfield municipality, including rural activity centres of Berry Springs, Coolalinga/Freds Pass, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo.

The NT Planning Commission has recommended the Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan to the Minister for Land and Planning for exhibition as a proposed amendment to the Northern Territory Planning Scheme.

This is a long-term plan that identifies the land to support a growing population. It protects the established rural lifestyle, while providing opportunities for some growth around rural activity centres and land for urban living with buffers to rural areas.

Rural activity centre concept plans show how the local area will grow. More detailed area plans, supported by infrastructure and traffic assessments, will outline what investment is needed to bring services to the area.

Stage One  launched in September 2015 with the release of a discussion paper and upfront community consultation over a two month period and included a community workshop.

Stage Two commenced in February 2016 with the release of the draft Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan and a month of consultation in the community.

Stage Three  is the final stage in the project. The NT Planning Commission recommended the Litchfield Subregional Land Use Plan to the Minister for Lands and Planning for exhibition as a proposed amendment to the Northern Territory Planning Scheme.

The Planning Commission is thankful to everyone who contributed to the development of the Subregional Plan by lodging a submission, participating in stakeholder meetings or talking with the Commission at shopping centres and community markets.
